ALLT ER ÓMÆLIÐ
ALLT ER ÓMÆLIÐ is a new duo record of free improvised music by Icelandic saxophonist Tumi Árnason and percussionist Magnús Trygvason Eliassen, set for release February 22. 2019. The record is being released by Reykjavík Record Shop and will be available for sale on vinyl and as a digital download.
Although the Icelandic music scene puts out an enormous amount of music every year, the free improvisation and free jazz genres remain relatively small and obscure, with physical releases being few and far between. ALLT ER ÓMÆLIÐ is probably the only sax & drum duo release to come from Iceland yet.
The nine original compositions on the record display a broad range of dynamics and timbres, ranging from extremely quiet and understated passages to dense high energy playing, often blending the acoustics of the instruments with electronic processing.
Tumi Árnason is an Icelandic saxophone player & improvisor focusing on free jazz and experimental music. He’s an original member of uncategorizable rock unit Grísalappalísa and co-organizer of the Úsland Útgáfa free improvisation series. He also helps a lot of artists in need of saxophone skronking.
Magnús Trygvason Eliassen is an Icelandic/Norwegian drummer. One of the most prolific drummers in Iceland, he’s a member of groups ADHD, amiina, Moses Hightower and Tilbury among many others, as well as collaborating with a huge number of artists both in Iceland and abroad.
